Safety First

Better luck than good. This stands true even if you don't want to climb. A number of risky locations/conditions here:

1. '9 Bends Cave' , Taroko Gorge - Fallen rocks unexpectedly. Drive with extra care on a rainny night at the Taroko Gorge Highway.

2. Lone Dome / LongDong / LungTung, NE coast - rusty bolts/hangers

3. Summer - Typhoon season. If you want to go river-tracing / coasteering, beware of the flood / upswells.

4. Spring / Autumn - Activity of dangerous creatures like poisonous snakes and wild bees.

5. Unchartered routes; Climb at your own risks.

Traning / Qualifications

ROCAA currently issue certificates on: Coaches, Judges, Route-setters and Climb/Belay Certifictes. But don't get it wrong that any guide with a certificate is capable of what you're looking for. Lots of climbers with certificates focus on sport climbing category only. Ask if you're not sure.
